The site is asking for user name and password. What’s wrong?
RESOLUTION
There may be a few causes for this issue. To determine them, check out the following conditions:
1. There should be read + execute permissions for IUSR_ on the domain index page.
2. Root directory for the domains can be under Plesk protection.
You can check it using Plesk Control Panel. Go to Plesk > domains > domain.com > Protected URLs. If root directory “/” is present there, remove it.
3. Passwords for system user and IIS user can be unsynchronized.
You can synchronize them using a Plesk utility:
“%plesk_bin%\websrvmng.exe” –update-anon-password –domain-name=
Note: this feature is accessible since Plesk 7.5.4 has been released + latest hotfix installed.
To synchronize the passwords manually you need to do the following:
1. Choose some complex password. Let’s call it “password”.
2. Go to IIS > Web sites > domain.com > Properties > Directory Security tab > Click on Edit button within “Authentication and access control” section > enter “password” in password filed > click OK
Also, you need to remember the user name (IUSR_) to change password for him within the system.
3. Go to Users Management > find user IUSR_ (in clause 2) > Right Click > set password > proceed > enter “password” > click OK
4. Plesk group `psacln` should be allowed to access the server from the network.
Administrative Tools > Security Settings > Local Polices > User Rights Assignment > Access this computer from the network
